Welcoming International Students to Humber

Humber’s International Centre is excited to welcome over 3,000 new and returning international students to Humber this September. To ensure students are prepared for life in Canada, the International Centre runs a number of events and offers key services that support a smooth a transition.

International students who fly into Terminals 1 or 3 at Toronto Pearson International Airport from August 15 to September 8 are encouraged to visit a staffed welcome booth to receive a fantastic welcome package and receive information about how to get their campus destination through the fourth annual International Student Airport Welcome Program. Along with 28 other postsecondary institutions, Humber is a strong supporter of this program and sponsors include the Greater Toronto Airport Authority, the Ontario Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities, CIBC, Rogers Communications, StudentUniverse, and Tim Hortons. Humber International Student Advisor, Matthew McDonald is part of the planning committee.

“At a busy airport like Pearson, the presence and reassurance of current international students from across the GTA, including many volunteers from Humber, is comforting to new arrivals. The Airport Welcome Program provides multilingual logistical guidance to students who are trying to find their way to campus and, quite often, find a place to stay. It’s crucial that students have these basics in place so that they’re ready to succeed socially and academically.” explained McDonald.

A YouTube video has been created to explain more about the #AirportWelcomeTO program.

International Students' Welcome Workshop
